Contractors cannot pay for better rankings
GrowLocalHub ranks contractors algorithmically using publicly available Google Maps data. We have no mechanism for a contractor to pay for a higher position. A contractor ranked #1 is there because their Google Business Profile is genuinely stronger than their competitors — not because they paid us.
This policy exists to protect homeowners. A ranked list that can be bought is not a ranked list — it is an advertisement. We refuse to be that.
Four signals. All merit-based.
These are the only factors that determine where a contractor appears in our rankings.
Review Count & Velocity
Total number of Google reviews and how consistently new reviews are being generated. A contractor earning 8+ reviews per month signals an active, trusted business.
Current Google Maps Position
Where the contractor appears in live Google Maps search results for their primary trade and city. Position 1–3 in the local pack reflects strong overall profile health.
Profile Completeness
Whether the GBP has correct categories, services, business hours, photos, and a complete description. Incomplete profiles rank lower because Google trusts them less.
Rating Consistency
A high rating maintained over hundreds of reviews is more credible than a perfect rating from a handful. We weight sustained quality over time, not peak ratings.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment to improve a contractor's ranking
- We do not feature contractors in exchange for advertising fees
- We do not allow contractors to request removal from rankings
- We do not manually adjust positions based on relationships
- We do not show sponsored listings — labeled or unlabeled
What we actually sell
We are a B2B service business. We sell Google Business Profile optimization services to contractors who want to improve their actual ranking signals — not purchase a listing position. There is a fundamental difference.

When a contractor improves their Google Business Profile, their actual Google Maps ranking improves. Their position on GrowLocalHub then reflects that real improvement. The optimization service improves the underlying signals — it never bypasses them.
What the listing tiers mean
Top performers in their market. Generally 200+ reviews, strong ratings, and high Google Maps visibility. These contractors earn their position every day.
Established contractors with solid review volume (50–199 reviews). Reliable local presence with consistent customer satisfaction signals.
Businesses with fewer than 50 reviews, or recently indexed. May still be excellent contractors — lower tier reflects newer or thinner online presence, not service quality.
What rankings do not guarantee
A high ranking on GrowLocalHub reflects strong Google Maps performance — not a guarantee of quality, licensure, or pricing. We recommend homeowners:
- Request proof of license and insurance before any work begins
- Get at least two written quotes for any significant project
- Read the contractor's most recent Google reviews directly
- Ask for a written estimate before agreeing to any scope of work
